Intrigerend of luguber? / Intrigueing or sinister?

On December 27th, I visited the COBRA Museum in Amstelveen. The regular collection was not very appealing (Appel, Corneille, Lucebert, etc.) but there also was a very interesting exhibition of young Chinese artists - CHINA NOW ! -. Of course photographing is strictly forbidden, but in the staircase hall no attendant was to be seen and the light was good. So I took my chance to taken some pictures of the statues. On first sight they looked very sinister, but when you looked closer they turned out to be interesting. Unfortunately no explanation was given by the artist. The other part of the exhibition was also very fascinating.
